First Grade

8 Aug

Cole grew up over the weekend.  I’m not even joking.  Something happened and he turned into a much older young man.  In a good way, not a traumatized childhood is over sort of thing.

School started Monday.  He had a hard time falling asleep Sunday night which didn’t surprise me, but got off well.  He had a great day, liked his teacher, didn’t tell me about how he’s too smart and should be in second grade (I’ve heard a lot of that this summer).  Second day?  Great as well.

He’s confident.  He’s happy.  He’s comfortable.  My heart is happy.  I know every day won’t be perfect.  Hoping we can get him in for reading with the 4th graders starting next week.  But for now, things are going better than I could have dreamed.  He seems very old as only a nearly 7 year old can.  Lanky and cute and interesting and not crying.  My boy!

Like the cool new ninja lunch box? I love it.

“Lanky and cute and interesting and not crying!” Nice! I also like the part about reading with the fourth graders. Ha!
